Feasibility Study

We received £12,400 from the Climate Challenge Fund to carry out an initial feasibility study to evaluate a number of renewable energy opportunities. 5 Different types of renewable energy generation were investigated. These ranged from biomass, marine heat exchanger at the Open Air Pool to river based micro-hydro as well as medium scale wind turbine at two locations and a wave generator in Stonehaven Bay. The final report can be viewed here.

Initial Investigation

Plans for the future: Following on from the feasibility study it is hoped that several of the renewable energy projects can be brought to fruition in the foreseeable future. Land owners and stakeholders are being contacted with a view to submitting necessary planning applications early in 2010 and getting projects on stream as soon as possible.
